Andrea shows her charitable side!

After 4 years of being a dedicated committee member of the high profile local charity “The Milton Keynes Community Foundation” Andrea Pickerin, Operations Director of DSP Solutions, has accepted the invitation to become one of the charity’s key trustees.

“The Community Foundation is a very professional charity and one of the key fund raisers locally. Every year the Foundation supports over one hundred community projects which benefit a wide range of people and also help to develop the artistic and cultural life of the city…I’m proud to be part of such a proactive and worthwhile charity”, said a very happy Andrea Pickerin.

It is Andrea’s skills in marketing accompanied with her enthusiasm and energy for fundraising that makes her the perfect candidate to join the board of trustees.

“It’s great to play a part in giving something back to the local community. I’m learning about the voluntary sector, something I did not have extensive prior knowledge in and I’m learning more everyday about the local community”.

Andrea has been working closely with the committee and has given valuable guidance specifically in the marketing and fundraising of the charity. Through quarterly meetings and adhoc advice, Andrea has voluntarily made herself available over the years, to help the charity whenever needed.

Where did it all start?

Prior to becoming a trustee Andrea was introduced to the Foundation by a very well known local business woman and one of the original members of the Milton Keynes business community, Sue Malleson.

Since the early days DSP Solutions have been keen to support local charities in and around Milton Keynes so soon after Andrea’s introduction, DSP joined the Foundation and started donating in 1999.

A year later, the charity spotted Andrea’s talents and invited her to become a committee member to help the foundation on the marketing and fundraising committee. The Foundation needed some real marketing knowledge and background to add to their existing team.

Every three months Andrea meets the team for lunch and brainstorming to discuss new ideas and to provide the guidance they need on how to implement, achieve and generate new ideas. Andrea’s input spans the whole spectrum of marketing and fundraising, the most recent of which was the new logo, brand and mission statement for the foundation.

“Andrea’s contribution to the Marketing and Fundraising Committee is most important because it is essential that the Milton Keynes Community Foundation receives the very best professional advice. This will help the Foundation continue to increase its funds and support the growing number of local good causes that need the grants the Foundation provides. Therefore I was delighted when Andrea agreed to stand as a trustee and was elected at our AGM”. Said Julia Seal Chief Executive of the Foundation.

In addition to the marketing and fundraising side, Andrea will now attend 4 board meetings per year as part of a 19 strong team of trustees to help the charity move forward and take it from strength to strength.
